I can't believe graduation is this close! It seems like just yesterday we were all sitting in our first classes, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I have learned so much these last 2 1/2 years... and looking back at my work, I feel I have come so far. I'll miss Ringling and all the friends I've made, but I'm also looking forward to what is to come in my journey as an artist.

2008 Senior Poster Self-Portrait (Corel Painter)
Here is my self-portrait for our senior poster that will be produced in the spring for our 2008 graduation! I am looking forward to seeing the final poster design and my work in print!

Ruins of Atlantis (Adobe Photoshop)
I love the legend of Atlantis. I love to swim and have always been a fan of the ocean. In this illustration, I wanted to catch the beautiful serenity of the deep sea and the massive wonder of the lost city in a fairly minimal way. There are so many pieces that have large amounts of the ruins in them and I wanted to catch a look at the first horizon, before the viewer would see the rest of the city - a taste of the treasures to come, with the mermaid as an homage to the legend that the people of Atlantis adapted to the sea.

Figure Drawings
The work below are sketches from my Figure Drawing class. All work is charcoal on newsprint. I took the photos fairly quickly with my dad's digital camera, so forgive the bad flash washout.

These poses range in time from 20 minutes to 2 hours (most are colored pencil on charcoal paper):

Still-Life Pastels from IL Media
Here is the first work I have ever done in pastel. I am so thrilled by the way they have turned out! It was so easy to work with and I really felt confident while the project was in full swing. I can't wait to use them more. I got the best critique in the class, and was selected for a spot in the next student show!
Enjoy!

Enjoy!

New Ringling Work
Here is some more work from this year. It's been so busy that posting here hasn't been much of an option. Whew!
The frog (acrylic) and elephant (scratchboard) are from Illustration Media and the eye (digital) is from Illustration I. I'm really excited about the feedback I've been getting in my critiques. I have been working hard on my art and it is definitely paying off!
Enjoy!

"Fish", pen & ink
Here is my cute, adorable little fish. He was the first assignment in my Illustration Media class this semester. The assignment called for an animal in the ink techniques we learned in class, a basic background, and incorporating at least one letter in the composition. I chose a deep sea fish and added my own twist. Then I scanned it into Photoshop and added letters as random bits of "stuff" in the ocean. He was very popular... but I think my classmates were somewhat perturbed. ;-)
